Semi-Permanent makeup

Semi permanent makeup is ideal for anyone who wants to enhance the look of their eyebrows, eyes or lips. The results can vary on the client preferences, skin type, facial features, lifestyle, etc. Our brow artist is very talented and will create the most natural looking hair-like strokes, regardless of the amount of hair present. This technique is called microblading (manually with a pen like tool) or nano brows (using the tattoo machine). Powder brows and ombre brows are another longer lasting option. It can last anywhere from 1 to 5 years. It is done by creating a make-up powder look and will define your brows more then the hair strokes technique. There are many different looks we can create with a powder brow from dark and bold to soft and subtle. Eyeliners will last 2 to 5 years. We can do a very natural eyelash enhancement by colouring in between the lashes to create the appearance of thicker lashes to a full winged liner look. Thickness, colour and type of eye liner will be chosen by the client.

Procedure

All permanent makeup procedures will need to be touched up eventually. We recommend between 2-5 years. The pigments we use have been formulated to match your original eyebrow colour, and if the eyebrows are still present, to blend perfectly. A good quality numbing cream is used to keep you comfortable.

The initial procedure takes approximately two hours. We start by numbing the area, then we discuss your expectations (shape, colour and style you would like) and after care. Remember our faces are NOT symmetrical, one side is always a little different than the other, our Brow Artist will always aim to create as much symmetry as possible. Many factors can affect your results, like your skin type, lifestyle and how well you follow the after care instructions. Perfect brows can not happen with only one session! The second visit is essential to correct any irregularity and give you the perfect brows or eyeliner you deserve. This visit will last approximately 1 hour and is done 6 week after. It takes that long for the pigment to settle in the skin. However, your skin will be healed after 2 weeks. It is IMPERATIVE you complete the second visit, as without it, the job will be half done and the results will not be optimal. Occasionally, a third visit might necessary for certain clients.

The second stage of the treatment is called a ‘touch up’, and takes 40 min approx. This usually happens after 30-60 days because it takes that long for the pigment to settle in the skin. It is IMPERATIVE you complete the touch-up treatment, as without it the job will be half done and the results will not be optimum. The touch-up gives the client an opportunity to get used to the initial finish before a final touch up consolidates the pigment into the skin, thus preventing fading. Colour will have faded significantly in these 30 days as the skin heals, peels and fades. The look of the brows in the first 10 days will be very defined, with no indication of the finished result.

Occasionally, a third visit is necessary for certain clients, 30 days later again. This is not uncommon.

Eyebrow shapes that do not suit a client’s face or facial structure, colour that does not suit the tones of the client’s face will not be considered despite client pressure.

Frequently asked questions

Some therapists will quote 2-5 yrs (but this is usually PERMANENT brows performed at a Tattoo Artists suite, and not Eyebrow Embroidery). The brow is semi-permanent, so it will begin to noticeably fade after 12-14 months, even though it’s only gradual fading. In order to keep the look fresh, a ‘touch up’ is advisable every 18-24 months. More frequent touch ups may be required where a client chose a soft lighter shade initially, or clients who did not follow after care advice regarding sunblock, etc. Clients who dye their hair will understand that certain elements will make their hair dye fade faster. Brows are exactly the same. Semi-permanent micropigmentation is not an exact science, so each client is different. Some clients even find they would like the look FRESH and even come for a touch up after 12 months. This is purely a client’s preference. It is perfectly fine for clients to use eyebrow pencil between touch-up appointments.

Technically, semi-permanent Eyebrow Embroidery procedures are considered permanent because the colour is implanted into the upper reticular part of the dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. However, the pigment is implanted more superficially than a ‘ tattoo’, so it naturally fades over time. This semi permanent method has gained popularity in the past three years due to the fact that fashion changes, brow hair returns, people get well, etc., and the permanence of the old fashioned tattoo is less appealing. A client can just let the Embroidery fade off over time – however a shadow will always remain.
